Tribute to Professor Colin Duckworth

“MFT pays tribute to one of its Life Members and founding members who died on 6 December 2012. Colin began with MFT in 1978 after I wrote to him in New Zealand prior to taking up the position of Professor of French at the Department of French in the University of Melbourne. Colin adapted a number of our plays to bilingual format, directed for MFT and lastly created the highly successful Les Liaisons Dangereuses into a stage play, commissioned by MFT in 2008, from the original exchange of letters.

French Ambassador official patron

His Excellency Mr Stéphane Romatet, French Ambassador to Australia and official patron of the MFT honoured our Theatre and its Executive Director and Producer Michael Bula by a visit to its offices in Carlton on Thursday 3 May 2012, to see the past posters, archives, library and filmed productions and discuss MFT affairs. Michael presented him with a Certificate of Honorary Membership of the MFT, which he graciously accepted.

The brief ceremony was followed by un déjeuner très français – a very French lunch at Parisgo Restaurant in Carlton.

MFT looks forward to strengthening ties with the Embassy and working with the
